The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed a master’s thesis, titled “The effect of the Hellefer skin tapping technique and cold topical compresses on pain in infants undergoing vaccination: A comparative study”. The student Ahmed Wissam Shaker under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Khitam Mutashar Hattab in the museum hall at the college.

The dissertation aimed to compare the effectiveness of the Heliver skin tapping technique and cold topical compresses in reducing pain levels among infants undergoing routine immunizations.

The results of the study showed that the use of both techniques, skin tapping and cold topical compresses, significantly reduced pain levels in infants during vaccination. The results also indicated that cold topical compresses showed a slightly stronger effect in reducing pain compared to skin tapping. Student Ahmed Wissam Shaker was awarded an A+ for his outstanding scientific effort.
This scientific discussion is directly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 on “Good Health and Well-being”, by focusing on improving the healthcare experience for the infant age group and minimizing their suffering.
