The Continuing Education Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Causes of Embarrassing Bowel Sounds and How to Eliminate Them.” The workshop was presented by Professor Hakima Shaker Hassan to undergraduate students in the Dr. Ali Dakhan Hall.

The workshop aimed to educate undergraduate students about the causes of embarrassing stomach noises and provide effective ways to get rid of them. In conclusion, Dr. Hakima Shaker Hassan emphasized that stomach noises are a natural phenomenon as long as they are not accompanied by other symptoms, as they indicate that the intestines are functioning normally. To reduce these noises, changes must be made to the diet and a set of healthy practices must be followed.

The workshop concluded with a set of important recommendations to reduce annoying stomach noises: the need to reduce foods rich in sugars and artificial sweeteners, which can cause bloating and gas; avoid foods that increase gas accumulation, such as beans and vegetables such as leeks and turnips; Limit consumption of acidic foods and fruits such as tomatoes, which may irritate the digestive system, and reduce consumption of carbonated drinks and coffee, which increase gas and bloating.

This workshop is part of a series of educational workshops organized by the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, under the direct supervision of the College Dean. These activities contribute directly to achieving the fourth Sustainable Development Goal, “Quality Education.” By providing undergraduate students with basic health knowledge related to common health problems and how to deal with them, the college enhances the quality of education and works to prepare a generation of health professionals who are aware and able to provide useful health advice to the community, which positively reflects on improving the health and well-being of individuals.
