The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized\u2014as part of initiatives aimed at serving the community and strengthening the family\u2019s role in human development\u2014an intensive training course titled: \u201cRefining Youth Skills: A Guide for Parents,\u201d presented by lecturer Dr. Safad Riad Issam, with active participation and a strong turnout from the college\u2019s faculty and staff.<\/p>\n
The course aimed to bridge the communication and knowledge gap between generations and shift the educational approach from a framework of traditional parental control to a model of conscious partnership and leadership guidance, thereby enabling parents to support their young children in keeping pace with the demands of the 21st century and the challenges of the rapidly evolving job market.<\/p>\n
The training program included academic sessions and practical workshops focused on understanding the psychology of young people and their developmental needs, mechanisms for discovering passions and developing personal skills, as well as reinforcing concepts of financial independence, digital empowerment, and positive citizenship, and instilling an entrepreneurial mindset and a spirit of initiative in them.<\/p>\n
The course concluded with final evaluation sessions during which participants reviewed the outcomes of the exercises and the family partnership agreements, expressing their appreciation for this initiative, which highlights the leading community role of the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad in raising awareness and building future leaders.<\/p>\n
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality, Equitable, and Inclusive Education) by promoting lifelong learning and the acquisition of life skills, Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by fostering a generation with an entrepreneurial mindset capable of integrating into the labor market, as well as Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting stability and mental health within family and community settings.<\/p>\n
