The Fundamentals of Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized an educational field trip for first-year students to Yarmouk Teaching Hospital. The visit was supervised by Professor Hakima Shaker Hassan, Assistant Professor Haider Majid, and Assistant Professor Ahmed Faleh from the Fundamentals of Nursing Department.<\/p>\n
The aim of this educational visit was to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the role of the nurse leader in nursing management and to hone their skills in making critical decisions related to nursing care. It also sought to familiarize them with the latest trends in emergency medicine and advanced cardiac life support, as well as the importance of rapid intervention to save the lives of patients and prevent potential complications.<\/p>\n
The visit\u2019s program included an exploratory field tour of key hospital departments, starting with the internal medicine and surgical emergency departments\u2014which serve as the first line of response for critical cases\u2014and continuing through the intensive care unit and the cardiopulmonary resuscitation unit. This tour provided students with the opportunity to observe the workflow in these departments and interact directly with the medical and nursing staff.<\/p>\n
This initiative is part of a series of field visits planned by the Fundamentals of Nursing Department to enhance students\u2019 theoretical and practical competencies in the field of nursing fundamentals. Through these visits, the college aims to empower students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately distinguish between different medical conditions, make accurate diagnoses, and provide optimal medical and nursing interventions to preserve patients\u2019 lives and minimize complications that could lead to a deterioration in their health. This visit contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 on quality education.<\/p>\n
