As part of the joint cooperation framework among the colleges of the University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Nuha Adel Ibrahim, a faculty member at the College of Nursing, presented a specialized paper titled \u201cHealth Empowerment Among Girls and Its Role in Addressing Societal Challenges\u201d during a training session organized by the Scientific Journal Unit at the College of Education for Girls in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The paper focused on the importance of health empowerment as a fundamental pillar for building an informed society by providing girls with accurate information on proper nutrition, physical activity, and reproductive and mental health, ensuring that girls are empowered to make responsible decisions regarding their physical well-being, which positively impacts family and community structures, as well as developing critical thinking skills and the ability to access reliable health services while enhancing self-confidence and awareness of health rights.<\/p>\n
The workshop also highlighted the most significant barriers girls face in society, including a lack of health awareness, social pressures, and customs that may hinder access to medical care, in addition to reviewing common health issues such as malnutrition, bullying, and psychological stress, and challenges associated with early marriage in some settings, emphasizing that addressing these challenges requires a concerted effort between academic and community sectors to raise preventive awareness among young women.<\/p>\n
This participation reflects the University of Baghdad\u2019s faculties\u2019 tireless pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, Goal 5 on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, and Goal 17 on building partnerships to strengthen integration between academic institutions and government sectors in a way that serves youth issues and supports the country\u2019s comprehensive development process.<\/p>\n
