The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled (Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: From Concept to Application), presented by Prof. Dr. Sawsan Ali Mahmoud, Assistant Prof. Dr. Najla Abdul Hamza, and Assistant Prof. Asil Ghazi Mahmoud, in the presence of a large gathering of faculty members in the college\u2019s laboratory hall
\nThe workshop aimed to establish a scientific understanding of the concept of artificial intelligence and its fundamental importance in the modern era, while reviewing its historical and technical development stages from the initial idea to actual implementation. The sessions also included an explanation of complex technical fundamentals such as machine learning and big data processing, with a particular focus on vital applications of artificial intelligence in nursing, including smart vital signs monitoring systems and electronic medical record management, to ensure data accuracy and rapid clinical decision-making
\nThe workshop concluded with a set of strategic recommendations urging attendees to acquire AI skills as an urgent future necessity, while calling for the integration of these technologies into practical training curricula for nursing students to prepare them for the smart workforce. The recommendations also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between nursing and technical staff to improve the quality of health services, while stressing that artificial intelligence serves as a tool to enhance work accuracy and reduce physical and mental strain, and is not a substitute for the human and professional role of nurses, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on health and well-being, Goal 4 on quality education, and Goal 9 on innovation<\/p>\n
