The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized an extensive awareness workshop for first-year students in both the morning and evening sessions titled \u201cSkills for Adapting to University Life.\u201d This event was part of the Psychological Counseling Unit\u2019s activity plan and falls within the college\u2019s ongoing efforts to promote awareness and self-development. The workshop was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Ibtisam Khalaf, a faculty member in the Basic Sciences Department<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of adaptation for first-year students, as this is a crucial transitional phase from high school to university life, while emphasizing strategies for addressing the psychological and social challenges students may face at the start of their academic journey. The activity also sought to identify the most prominent problems students face and find appropriate solutions, as well as provide a set of guidance tips to ensure a stable and productive university life<\/p>\n
This workshop embodies the college\u2019s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education by fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and Goal 3 on good health and well-being by promoting students\u2019 mental health and personal balance. At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer recommended intensifying similar training programs for first-year students to prepare them psychologically and academically, thereby contributing to enhancing their scientific competence and building their professional character, so that they may become the nucleus of competent nursing cadres capable of serving society and the nation at the highest levels.<\/p>\n
