The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Community Health Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled (Family-Oriented Primary Health Care: An Introduction to Improving Community Health), presented by Lecturer Dr. Hawra Karim Abdul Ali and Assistant Lecturer Noor Najm Abadi, and targeted fourth-year undergraduate students<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to enhance participants\u2019 understanding of the concept of family-oriented primary health care, highlighting its essential role in improving community health by focusing on prevention, health education, and close collaboration between care providers and families. The sessions also included a detailed explanation of the components of the health system, which encompass prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, while highlighting the critical importance of health education in modifying individual behaviors and clarifying the roles assigned to nursing and medical staff in meeting families\u2019 health needs and addressing challenges that may hinder the implementation of this model in the community setting<\/p>\n
The workshop concluded with a set of strategic recommendations that emphasized the need to support and develop primary care programs in health centers and increase awareness campaigns targeting families, while stressing the importance of training nursing staff in family-centered care skills to ensure the continuity of health services. The recommendations also called for improving the infrastructure of health centers and encouraging active community participation in health activities, in addition to supporting specialized research and studies in the field of family health nursing, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, foremost among them Goal 3 on good health and well-being and Goal 4 on quality education<\/p>\n
