The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled \u201cEar Pain in Children,\u201d presented in a joint lecture by Prof. Dr. Khatam Mutashar Hattab and Dr. Amer Jabbar Ali. The workshop was specifically targeted at graduate students (Ph.D. candidates) in the pediatric nursing program to enhance their clinical and research skills in this vital field<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of common causes of ear pain in children, such as ear infections, teething, and sore throat, with a deep focus on diagnosing otitis media and distinguishing its clinical signs and associated risk factors. The sessions also included a detailed explanation of advanced nursing interventions and their applications in pain relief, as well as a review of treatment protocols that combine analgesics and antibiotics when necessary, leading to effective prevention strategies that protect children from recurrent infections<\/p>\n
of children before the age of three, and 80% of the workshop concluded with a set of scientific recommendations emphasizing the seriousness of neglecting ear infections, as they affect more than 80% of children and can lead to hearing loss if not treated appropriately. The lecturers stressed the importance of early diagnosis in preventing permanent ear damage, calling on doctoral researchers to undertake field studies that contribute to improving the quality of nursing care provided to children. This workshop embodies the college\u2019s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education, by equipping graduate students with specialized knowledge.<\/p>\n
