The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled \u201cNeuroimmunological Diseases,\u201d presented in a joint lecture by Assistant Professor Dr. Wasana Jumaa Mohammed and Lecturer Dr. Sunan Thaer Abdul Wahab from Al-Turath University, held in the Continuing Education Hall in the presence of a group of faculty members, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of the concept of autoimmune neurological diseases and how the immune system attacks the nervous system, while reviewing common clinical cases, foremost among them multiple sclerosis. The lecture also focused on explaining the latest clinical and laboratory diagnostic methods, including cerebrospinal fluid analysis, immunological tests, and advanced neuroimaging techniques that contribute to early detection, as well as highlighting modern therapeutic and pharmacological protocols and the importance of continuous follow-up to reduce complications and improve the quality of life for patients.<\/p>\n
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the need to raise community and academic awareness of the importance of early diagnosis of these diseases and to encourage research pathways for the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic mechanisms, while calling for strengthened collaboration between physicians and researchers from various institutions to achieve integrated healthcare. These activities are part of the college\u2019s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, by enhancing the competence of medical staff and developing specialized expertise to support public health.<\/p>\n
