As part of the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad\u2019s plan to develop research and academic skills, the college organized a specialized workshop for graduate students titled \u201cReview Papers: Methodology and Importance,” presented by Prof. Dr. Azra Hussein Shawq, a faculty member in the Pediatric Nursing Department, with the aim of equipping researchers with the scientific tools necessary to write this type of rigorous research, which forms a fundamental pillar of global publication.<\/p>\n
The workshop provided an in-depth examination of the fundamental differences between systematic reviews and narrative reviews, highlighting search mechanisms in global databases and the selection of sources closely related to the study topic, in addition to explaining data analysis methods and summarizing results to ensure a qualitative scientific contribution to the academic medical literature. The lecture also focused on equipping students with the skills to publish in peer-reviewed international journals by understanding the evolution of the field and identifying research gaps that can be addressed in master\u2019s theses and doctoral dissertations.<\/p>\n
The workshop concluded by highlighting the strategic impact of this type of research, as equipping graduate students with the skills to write review papers not only raises their academic level but also contributes effectively to improving the college\u2019s and university\u2019s rankings in international forums and strengthening their presence in global databases, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 9 on innovation and scientific research, and Goal 17 on strengthening partnerships to achieve academic objectives.<\/p>\n
