The Continuing Education Unit at the college of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop entitled “Recognizing normal and abnormal lung sounds in children” with a joint lecture presented by Assistant Professor Ahmed Wissam Shaker and Assistant Professor Suzan Ali Abdul Hassan, attended by a group of undergraduate students in the pediatric nursing laboratory at the faculty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to train students to recognize normal lung sounds in children and their characteristics, how to accurately distinguish between normal and abnormal respiratory sounds, identify the clinical significance of abnormal sounds and link them to common diseases affecting children, as well as enhance clinical examination skills using a stethoscope professionally and accurately.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations that emphasized the need for continuous practical application of lung sound listening skills during clinical training and the enhancement of early respiratory assessment skills to detect any health disorders in children, while stressing the importance of continuing to hold training workshops that support the development of students’ competence in the field of pediatric nursing. This workshop is part of the regular activities of the college’s continuing education unit to raise the academic and professional performance of students, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals, specifically the fourth goal of quality education.<\/span><\/p>\n
