The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Pediatric Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Cybersecurity for Academics,” presented by Assistant Professor Mustafa Wajih Hussein, in the presence of a group of professors and staff members at the college’s main hall.<\/span>
\nThe workshop aimed primarily to introduce the concepts of cybersecurity and its utmost importance in protecting educational institutions, in addition to raising awareness among teaching and administrative staff about types of cyberattacks and phishing methods. and explaining the mechanisms for protecting research and personal data and university email from hacking, in an effort to promote a secure digital culture to ensure the continuity of the educational and administrative process without technical obstacles.<\/span>
\nThe workshop resulted in a set of practical recommendations, foremost among which was the need to activate two-factor authentication for all university and personal accounts, avoid using unsecured public internet networks when accessing university systems, and emphasize the importance of regularly backing up academic data and research to protect it from digital risks.<\/span>
\nThis activity is part of a series of activities organized by the college’s Continuing Education Unit, which contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals, specifically Goal 4, “Quality Education,” by providing a secure and stable digital learning environment, and Goal 9, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure,” by strengthening and protecting technical infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n
