<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Continuing Education Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop entitled “Principles of drug administration and dose calculation for children” at the faculty. Assistant Professor Susan Ali Abdul Hassan and Assistant Professor Ahmed Wissam Shaker presented the workshop in Hall No. 3, with the active participation of undergraduate students.
\nThe workshop addressed specific scientific topics aimed at enhancing understanding of the basic principles of administering drugs to children, taking into account the physiological differences between them and adults in terms of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, in addition to identifying age differences and their impact on choosing the appropriate drug dose for each category, from infants to adolescents. The workshop also focused on practical methods for calculating accurate doses using different units of measurement, such as weight in kilograms and body surface area, to ensure the highest levels of medical accuracy.
\nThe workshop concluded with a set of recommendations that emphasized the need to apply the principles learned in daily clinical practice under the supervision of specialists, and to commit to proper documentation of all doses administered to ensure safety and effectiveness, as well as the importance of continuous education for the nursing team on the latest global drug guidelines for children.
\nThis activity is part of a series of activities organized by the college’s Continuing Education Unit to raise students’ efficiency and develop their professional skills, thereby contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 3 (Good Health and Well-being).<\/p>\n
