The Nursing Fundamentals Department at the Faculty of Nursing organized an educational field trip for adult nursing doctoral students to the Ibn Al-Bitar Specialized Center for Cardiac Surgery under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hakima Shaker Hassan. This trip was part of the faculty’s efforts to enhance the practical and leadership skills of graduate students.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The visit aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the role of the nursing leader in nursing care management and to hone their skills in making critical decisions related to advanced health assessment, in addition to informing them of the latest global trends in the field of emergency medicine and advanced cardiac resuscitation and the importance of rapid intervention to save the lives of the injured and avoid complications. The visit program included a comprehensive field tour of the center’s vital departments, starting with the cardiac catheterization department, which is the first line of defense in<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit program included a comprehensive field tour of the center’s vital departments, starting with the cardiac catheterization department, which is the first line of response in dealing with emergencies, and continuing through the intensive care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation units, where students had a golden opportunity to directly observe work protocols and interact with the specialized medical and nursing staff This helped them to link academic theories with real-life clinical practices and develop their abilities to make accurate diagnoses and distinguish between complex medical cases to ensure the provision of optimal nursing care that preserves patients’ lives and limits the deterioration of their health.<\/span><\/p>\n

This scientific initiative is part of the college’s strategic plan to empower its students and equip them with the skills necessary to advance the nursing profession in Iraq, which directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality and equitable education and Goal 3 on good health and well-being, by providing health institutions with experts and researchers who possess highly competent in managing critical cardiac cases. Developing the skills of senior nursing staff is a fundamental pillar for sustaining the health system, improving the quality of medical care provided to citizens, and reducing mortality rates from chronic diseases, in line with global visions for building healthy and productive societies.<\/span><\/p>\n
