The college of Nursing at the University of Baghdad launched a comprehensive humanitarian volunteer initiative to serve visitors to Imam Kazim (peace be upon him), where teaching staff, faculty, and students joined forces to provide medical and logistical support along the visitors’ routes. The initiative included providing quality services such as checking blood pressure and sugar levels, providing first aid for minor cases, as well as providing preventive health guidance and distributing water and breakfast meals.<\/p>\n

This initiative stems from the college’s belief that volunteer work is a fundamental pillar of community building. Through these activities, the college aims to promote noble human values and instill a spirit of initiative in students and staff. The initiative also seeks to reinforce the concept of giving without expecting anything in return and to develop students’ communication skills with different segments of society, thereby contributing to the creation of a professionally empowered generation that believes in its effective role in supporting state institutions during the million-strong visits.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the initiative, the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim, emphasized that this activity stems from the core of the college’s humanitarian mission, saying: “We are primarily concerned with transforming academic skills into field practices that directly serve citizens. Involving students in these volunteer tasks contributes to building their professional character and enhances their sense of social responsibility towards members of society, which is what the college strives for as part of its educational and service role.”<\/p>\n

This initiative is part of the college’s strategy to achieve sustainable development goals. The event focused on promoting good health and well-being through direct care for visitors, supporting quality education through field training for students in a realistic environment, in addition to establishing the principle of partnerships to achieve goals through effective cohesion between the academic institution and the community at major events. The college continues to perform its humanitarian duty throughout the visit, affirming its absolute commitment to providing the best medical and awareness services to ensure the safety and comfort of those who come to commemorate this painful anniversary]<\/p>\n
