As part of its efforts to promote environmental awareness and establish the principles of sustainability within academic circles, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the college of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized an educational seminar targeting first-year students, under the slogan “A drop of water is life… so do not waste it, even if you are on a flowing river.”<\/p>\n
The seminar was moderated by Prof. Widad Kamel Muhammad, head of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, with the participation of Ms. Amal Sajid from the same unit. The scientific presentation addressed the importance of water resources as the lifeblood of life and reviewed the current environmental challenges associated with water scarcity and shortage, as well as the impact of harmful consumption behaviors on public health and environmental balance. The discussion focused on the pivotal role of university students, especially nursing students, in adopting positive behaviors and transferring the culture of water conservation from the university campus to the community, as they are active agents in promoting health awareness. The seminar witnessed remarkable interaction from students through discussions and interventions that enriched the topic. This initiative is part of a series of awareness-raising activities to promote social responsibility and link academic knowledge with daily practices.<\/p>\n
This activity is directly in line with the university’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) by raising awareness of the importance of conserving water resources and ensuring their sustainability, Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by encouraging changes in consumption patterns and rational use of natural resources, and Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) as clean water is the cornerstone of public health and disease prevention.<\/p>\n
