The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the college of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized training course entitled “First Aid for Burns and Electric Shocks.” The course was taught by Assistant Professor Dr. Wafa Abdul Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Sirwan Baqir Jafar, and Lecturer Dr. Basem Muhammad Jawad. It was held in the “Baghdad” hall at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Baghdad, attended by a diverse group of students, faculty, graduates, and professionals working in the field of veterinary medicine<\/p>\n

The course, which is part of a series of workshops on first aid, aimed to equip staff and graduates with emergency response skills for burns and electrical hazards, enable participants to distinguish between different types of burns and how to treat each type, and promote a safe working environment and occupational safety standards. The course concluded with recommendations emphasizing adherence to scientific standards in treating the injured, the need for personal protection for first responders by ensuring that the source of danger is eliminated (such as disconnecting electricity), and the call to spread community awareness and convey accurate knowledge to correct common misconceptions about the treatment of burns and electric shocks<\/p>\n

This specialized training course contributes to the achievement of two main sustainable development goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by spreading the knowledge necessary to save lives and deal immediately with emergency injuries, and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by promoting a safe working environment and achieving the necessary occupational safety standards in various sectors<\/p>\n
