The college of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized an educational workshop on mental health culture for students in conjunction with the activities of the University Psychological Counseling Week and as part of the awareness plan of the Psychological Counseling Unit. The workshop, entitled “Mental Health Culture among University Students,” was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Azra Hussein Shawq<\/span>
\nThe workshop aimed to dismantle misconceptions about mental health, emphasizing that it is a state of well-being that enables students to cope with life’s pressures and contribute effectively to their community. <\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop addressed three main themes: self-awareness and how to recognize the early warning signs of stress and anxiety; effective coping tools through a review of practical techniques for time management and self-care; and breaking the stigma and emphasizing the importance of seeking help from the relevant authorities at the university as a step of strength and responsibility. The main goal of these activities was to build psychological resilience in students to overcome academic and social challenges. In conclusion, the Psychological Counseling Unit emphasized its commitment to continuing to offer support programs and interactive workshops throughout the year, encouraging students to take advantage of these services to ensure a healthy and productive learning environment<\/span><\/p>\n

This educational workshop embodies the College of Nursing’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), as it directly seeks to raise awareness of mental health and provide students with effective coping tools to deal with stress, thereby ensuring the psychological well-being of all its students. This activity also contributes to achieving Goal 4 (Quality Education) by creating a supportive and healthy learning environment that enables students to focus and achieve effective academic performance<\/span><\/p>\n
