The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized a discussion panel for first-year students entitled: “Successful Transition to University Life: Adaptation Skills and Building at the Faculty1The First Start,” moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Alak in Hall No.<\/p>\n
The session addressed the importance of this stage as a turning point in life that requires psychological and academic preparation to adapt to new changes. It covered key topics such as the differences between school and university life, basic adaptation skills, and common challenges such as anxiety and time management. Alk also discussed with students the practical academic skills that must be mastered early on, such as time management, developing study skills, and building a social network, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of university services and taking care of physical and mental health. The discussion emphasized the need to contact the Educational and Psychological Counseling Unit confidentially to resolve any psychological, social, or academic issues that students may encounter. Time was allocated for discussion and answering questions, which generated considerable interest in the importance of a successful transition to university life.<\/p>\n
This guidance activity is an integral part of the College of Nursing’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as it directly supports Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment that helps students adapt and excel, ensuring quality learning opportunities for all. It also contributes to Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by providing students with coping and stress management skills, which enhance their mental health and well-being at the beginning of their university journey.<\/p>\n
