The college of Media at the University of Baghdad organized a practical training course entitled “First Aid,” supervised by a group of faculty members from the Nursing Fundamentals Department at the Faculty of Nursing. The course was held in the Continuing Education Hall and was attended by professors, faculty members, and staff of the Faculty of Media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The course aimed to introduce participants to the basic principles of first aid and how to treat the injured using the simplest means available. It also aimed to equip participants with the skills necessary to save the life of the injured and avoid complications until the medical team arrives and transports them to the hospital. Training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Dealing with wounds and burns, bleeding, fractures, and food poisoning. Ways to protect the first responder while providing assistance. The course included several theoretical and practical topics, including <\/span><\/p>\n

The attendees expressed their satisfaction with the practical training, noting that the course removed the barrier of fear that had prevented them from helping others. The lecturers emphasized the need for staff and students to participate in these courses so that they can provide assistance to the injured and avoid complications that could lead to death or permanent disability.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of the course, the Dean of the College of Media praised the efforts made to ensure its success, and the teaching staff from the College of Nursing received certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n

This community course is an effective contribution to the achievement of the third Sustainable Development Goal, “Good Health and Well-being.” .” By transferring basic life skills such as first aid to various segments of the academic community, the Faculty of Nursing contributes to building community capacity to respond immediately to emergencies, thereby reducing mortality rates from sudden injuries and promoting safety and general well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n
