The Pediatric Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific field trip to the Ibn Al-Baladi Center for Genetic Blood Diseases (for both morning and evening classes), under the supervision of a select group of faculty members, including Professor Dr. Khatam Mutashar Hatab, Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Wahid Ajel, and Assistant Lecturer Huda Wasfi Radwi.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit aimed to introduce students to the role of the nurse leader in managing cases of patients with hereditary blood diseases and thalassemia. This included the decision-making process regarding appropriate nursing and medical care for children in the hematology ward, how to deal with pain, and providing specialized care to save their lives and avoid complications resulting from the diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit included a field tour inside the Ibn Al-Baladi Center, where students learned about the nursing and medical needs of patients with thalassemia and other blood diseases, and were introduced to the appropriate medical and nursing intervention methods for dealing with these critical cases.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit is part of a series of visits planned by the Pediatric Nursing Department to empower students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize medical conditions, make accurate diagnoses, and provide optimal intervention to save patients’ lives and prevent their health from deteriorating.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit confirms the efforts of the Deanship of the College of Nursing to graduate batches of students armed with knowledge, science, and correct clinical practices, which contributes to serving health institutions with high efficiency, increasing the quality of healthcare provided to patients, and saving their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit directly contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by preparing specialized nursing cadres capable of improving healthcare for patients with complex genetic diseases, thereby contributing to reducing mortality rates. Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing a practical learning environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, ensuring the graduation of highly competent nurses in line with international standards.<\/span><\/p>\n
