The college of Nursing at the University of Baghdad will hold the defense of the doctoral thesis entitled “The effectiveness of the interventional program on nurses’ practices on administering medication through enteral feeding tubes supported by evidence in intensive care units”. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sabah Abbas Ahmed in the Great Hall of the college.<\/p>\n

The thesis aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational and training program directed at nursing staff to improve their practices when administering medications to patients through enteral feeding tubes, a precise practice that requires high knowledge and skill to ensure the safety of patients in intensive care units.
\nThe results of the study clearly showed that the interventional program led to a significant improvement in the practices of the nursing staff, reducing potential errors and enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment provided to critical cases.<\/p>\n

The study recommends that evidence-based guidelines should be implemented in all hospitals when administering medications through feeding tubes, and emphasizes the importance of organizing continuous education and training programs for nurses to ensure the preparation and safe administration of enteral medications. The researcher received a “good” rating from the discussion committee for his valuable research efforts.<\/p>\n

Such specialized studies are of great importance beyond their direct impact on the patient, as they are a pivotal part of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically the third goal of “Ensure healthy lifestyles and well-being for all”. By increasing the efficiency of health workers and applying safe practices, the quality of the entire health system is enhanced, which is a key pillar for building a strong society capable of facing health challenges in a sustainable manner.<\/p>\n
