<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad discussed a doctoral thesis entitled \u201cThe Effectiveness of the Educational Program on the Clinical Competence of Nurses in Eye Care for Unconscious Patients in Intensive Care Units\u201d by student Zainab Salman Daoud, supervised by Assistant Professor Sirwan Jafar Baqi, in the faculty’s main hall.<\/p>\n
The thesis aimed to evaluate the competence of nurses in Basra hospitals in caring for the eyes of unconscious patients, and then to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program designed specifically for this purpose. It also sought to study the relationship between nurses’ competence and their personal and social characteristics.<\/p>\n
The results showed that the educational program was highly effective, with a marked improvement in nurses’ knowledge and practices after receiving training. Their level of knowledge and practices moved from low to high, and their attitude toward eye care for patients improved to become very positive.<\/p>\n
The study recommends that nurses be provided with ongoing training programs and up-to-date information on eye care in intensive care units, with the importance of monitoring the impact of this training on patient health.<\/p>\n
This study directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals related to Goal 3, ensuring healthy lives and well-being for all, by raising the quality of healthcare provided in intensive care units, thereby reducing complications from loss of consciousness and improving patient outcomes.<\/p>\n
