The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Hypoglycemia: a Diabetes terror) in the presence of the college\u2019s teaching and administrative staff.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to identify the term hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and the symptoms and signs accompanying its occurrence, as well as the extent of its dangerous effects to patients with diabetes.<\/p>\n
The workshop was presented by Instructor Dr. Safad Riyadh Isam within the activities of continuous education unit and as a part of the college\u2019s efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals, as it contributes to achieving the third goal (Good Health and Well-being).<\/p>\n
The workshop also included several topics, the most important of which are: an overview of diabetes and its types, signs and symptoms associated with diabetes, normal blood sugar levels, pathophysiology that leads to low blood sugar, and how to prevent and treat these conditions.<\/p>\n
In conclusion, how to prevent low blood sugar and the seven proven facts about low blood sugar were discussed. The workshop presenter recommended the importance of obtaining a device to measure blood sugar at home for the purpose of self-monitoring of blood sugar levels especially when feeling symptoms associated with high or low blood sugar.<\/p>\n
