The College of Nursing was established in 1962 in cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. In 1964, the college became affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research after becoming a member of the prestigious University of Baghdad.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since its establishment, the college has continued its journey with determination by preparing educational nursing programs and scientific activities, such as conferences, seminars, and workshops, in addition to providing the necessary supplies to achieve all of this.<\/span><\/p>\n

The college’s achievements have been numerous, its tasks varied, and its reputation widespread in raising the standards of the nursing profession in Iraq and providing health institutions with university-qualified nurses capable of providing comprehensive nursing care to individuals, families, and the community. In addition, it has provided young nursing colleges with holders of higher degrees, such as master’s and doctorates, to establish a new nucleus for nursing in all provinces of Iraq.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to document this journey full of giving and preserve its heritage over the years, the idea of opening a museum for the college came about in 2012 as part of the college’s achievements on the occasion of its golden jubilee. It was opened electronically to document the development of the College of Nursing\/ University of Baghdad in the past, present, and future. It provides an electronic display of documented images of the stages of the college’s development and its most prominent achievements over the past 50 years. At that time, it was considered the second museum of its kind among the colleges of the University of Baghdad.<\/span><\/p>\n

The museum promotes the relationship between the profession and its practitioners through giving and preserving heritage within a vision that embraces the past as the roots of the present and the nucleus of the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

The museum also aims to reveal the love of the nursing profession among teachers and students across generations, and how their identity was shaped by the societal changes they experienced, which coincided with the growing need for nursing services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nursing College Museum aims to be a meeting place for those interested in the history of nursing, who seek a deeper understanding of the profession and its practitioners. It was established to be a cultural and historical center that will inspire this generation and future generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of this endeavor, the museum is concerned with the acquisition, preservation, and representation of Iraqi nursing heritage through the display of old medical tools and equipment, as well as historical photographs of the College of Nursing.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nTo highlight the tremendous shift between the past, present, and future of nursing in Iraq in an interactive and modern way.<\/span>
\nTo tell the story of nursing’s history, rich heritage, and bright present through sound and images.<\/span><\/p>\n
